I just switched majors!

Posted by PBass - August 6th, 2009

I used to be a Game Art and Design student, but after long consideration and a lot of advice from my friends, I've decided to switch over into animation. So now I should be able to complete projects easier, as they'll also be school projects. It should be much better than having to shelve all of my ideas so I can concentrate on schoolwork.

On another note, my student group, Tough Luck Studios has begun animation on our project "Benny's Night Out".

And finally, if anybody is actually wondering, now I really am (for serious) working on Keyblade Chronicles. I should begin story-boarding some time soon. I should write a script, but I'm really bad at it, so I'll skip that part and just write the lines in the storyboard.

Well, if anybody is reading this, thanks for doing so and feel free to drop me a comment!

Good luck!

Thanks!

An animation course eh? I never had the balls for any of that, so good on ya! Also, your last submission was in 2007, so I'd say it's time to show your worth :)

Thanks Xeptic! Yeah I need to finish something real soon. The Benny project was dropped (for now) because my partners decided to tell me excuses such as exploding hard drives and alien abductions. My Halloween animation however is moving along quite smoothly so I hope that I'll have something nice to show my two+ years of progress.

Good look with that :P, I'll stick with computing and probably take networking next year. I hear theres good money in that :p.

No idea how American or wherever, uni courses work, did swapping majors set you back?

Well, since I was only a few quarters in, it only put me back 1 class. Not too bad.
Good luck with networking mate, hope you land a nice job after schooling!

I was thinking of doing a software engineering course but then I realised that'd be extremely boring. So now I'm thinking of going into an art/ design / animation course.

What exactly is in those courses?
Is game art and design concept art or actual 3d/2d graphics?

Both Game Art and Animation go over the conceptual process and actual projects. I find that it's kind of general though, and self study and self projects are going to be needed to become a specialist and become very skilled.

Very good job on your most recent flash! it felt like real art work, unlike most of the other shit here. keep it up! :)

Hey, thanks man! It's nice to have somebody appreciate it!

Are you gonna be a flash reg now?

I'll try to be. Hopefully my projects don't absorb my life.

I don't know how you manage to spend so much time on the BBS.
College just takes up all of my free time.

Hehe, I'm usually on it during my photoshop class, which is a breeze. :)

Hey can you tell me when it's your birthday so I can make you a Birthday Thread :D

Haha, sure. It's May 7th, but knowing me I'll be out partying that day and might not see it.

Crystal Lake? You live near Crystal Lake??

You don't mean the one in Urbana do you?

No, it's a city a little north of Chicago. I'm about 3 hours or so away from you.
